Songs that recontextualize source material are more common than ever, and the path to attention and commercial success is often much faster than copyright laws can keep up with.
In that instance, Nine Inch Nails collaborators Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross were able to walk away with producer credits and 50 percent of the publishing or songwriting rights. Which could mean that iMarkkeyz will find himself negotiating directly with Atlantic Records over the fate of his viral song. This would not be a worst-case scenario for iMarkkeyz.

The map previously showed the rate of change in cases. Case numbers are surging throughout most of the United States, including in many states that were among the first to reopen. Because the number of people hospitalized and the percentage of people testing positive is also rising in many of those places, the case spike cannot be solely explained by increased testing.
Still, coronavirus deaths remain well below their peak levels. And as some places reimpose restrictions, others continue to reopen their economies. Charts show daily cases per capita and are on the same scale.

Deaths tend to rise a few weeks after a rise in infections, as there is typically a delay between when people are infected, when they die and when deaths are reported. Some deaths reported in the last two weeks may have occurred much earlier because of these delays. In late February, there were just a few dozen known cases in the United States, most of them linked to travel.
But by early summer, the virus had torn through every state, infecting more people than the combined populations of Wyoming, South Dakota and Washington, D. The national death toll exceeded the population of Topeka, Kan.With an attempt to spread information in his usual fun manner, rapper and musician Baba Sehgal recently released his new song Namaste which is based on ways to deal with the novel coronavirus. James And yet our faith promises us that God is committed to doing good when the enemy intends harm.
Genesis God is committed to bringing life out of death. Romans God is committed to taking every bad thing that happens to us and using it to bless us. Trials can be a boot camp of blessings if we allow God to have His way. Here are 8 ways God wants to bless us in the coronavirus crisis:. Fear looms large in a global pandemic. Gloom and doom coverage permeates the airwaves.
This virus has forced us to face uncertainty at every turn. We all know and love people who are vulnerable to the coronavirus. That is scary. If you are an elderly person or you have an underlying health condition, this illness can certainly induce anxiety and even panic. The stock market has been in a free fall.
Portfolios have crashed. Large corporations are restructuring to weather the storm while small businesses fight to stay afloat. Hundreds of thousands of workers with stable jobs just a week ago are on furlough for the foreseeable future. Hospitals and health care professionals are bracing for what could be a tsunami of need. But Scripture tells us that fear is not from God. We have a choice to make in every crisis. We can choose fear, or we can choose faith.
Start by seeking the Lord. Submit every fear you face concerning this crisis to Him. When life is running smoothly, we are tempted to think that we are masters of our own destiny. Chaos from a pandemic strips the veil from our eyes. My pastor, Chris Hodges of Church of the Highlandsquoted this verse in our Sunday servicewhich took place for the first time entirely online.
He encouraged us to make this declaration:. Affirm that God is in control. He has delivered us in the past. He will deliver us now. And He will continue to deliver us in the future. We all love the story of Jesus speaking peace to the stormy waters in Mark 4but we know how that story ends.
They were on the verge of drowning.
And we cannot comprehend His power without a storm. These two attributes of God go hand-in-hand.On March 12th, the Berlin Philharmonic gave one of the eeriest concerts in its history—a history that has not lacked for eerie moments. In response to the coronavirus pandemic, Berlin, along with other major cities, had called a halt to all large gatherings. The Philharmonic went ahead with its scheduled program all the same, performing in a vacant hall and streaming the event over the Internet.
Ordinarily, you have to pay a hefty fee for the service, but the Philharmonic offered this concert without charge, and for the next month its entire archive will be free to all. The program consisted of two turbulent masterpieces from the fraught heart of the twentieth century. Where now? When now? Keep going, going on, call that going, call that on. If a feeling of collective elation was missing in the finale, the omission was understandable under the circumstances.
He is an eager, eloquent communicator, and it was fortunate that he happened to be on hand for this singular occasion. How do you take what is deeply important to yourself in a place where you have basically no contact with the outside world?
And he seemed to be gesturing, even more broadly, toward the isolation into which rampant digital technologies have beguiled us. The orchestra was, of course, in isolation itself, and the absence of an audience made the experience exceedingly strange. Rattle walked onstage not to a round of applause but to a shuffling of feet and a tapping of bows—the usual signals of appreciation from an orchestra. As I sat and watched at my home laptop, I became sufficiently immersed in the music that I forgot about the peculiar context, and it was a shock when stony silence intruded at the end.
Coronavirus Concerts: The Music World Contends with the Pandemic
After the Berio, the players awkwardly applauded for a moment and rose in acknowledgment of the ghost public in the ether. Bless you, thank you so much. Again, the leaden silence that followed the performance was unnerving. Music is at heart a social medium, and it desperately needs contact.
The ad-hoc concerts are a welcome stopgap, helping musicians to keep working and listeners to stay engaged.Panasonic iptv app
We are already too sedentary and technology-addicted in our relationship with the arts. The monopolies that rule the digital realm possess unheard-of power, and non-celebrity artists increasingly struggle in a marketplace where audiences no longer expect to pay for recorded music. Furthermore, streaming ravages the environment, requiring vast quantities of electricity as music files are stored and transmitted. A study by researchers in Glasgow and Oslo found that the shift to digital music has led to a significant increase in carbon emissions.
Perilous times for working musicians lie ahead.
So far, the bigger companies are missing from it. Smaller-budget ensembles are also endangered by the coronavirus stoppage, and some may not survive.A link has been provided for you.
Be assured that all of us who serve at St. Cecilia will keep you and your families in our prayers. God Bless you during this difficult time. A general dispensation from the Sunday obligation will remain until further notice. The dispensation for the obligation to attend Mass will remain in effect.
No one will be required to attend Mass when public celebrations resume. Hence, live stream Masses for parishioners at home will continue.
Attendance will be limited. We know restrictions will remain on holding large gatherings, so we are working with parishes to determine the best way to ensure safety. Communications will come from the parish so parishioners will know how many people can attend any given Mass.James 2_26 kjv
It is likely that all parishioners may not be able to attend Mass regularly at first. Social Distancing will be practiced. No one will be admitted without a mask. Parishioners should take their temperature before coming to Mass.
Anyone with any symptoms of sickness must stay home. Liturgical changes will be in place. Similar to protocols established when churches were closing, extra precautions will be taken. Temporary adjustments will be made to how we celebrate Mass and receive Communion. There still will be a risk for anyone who attends a public Mass. Even with best health practices and strict social distancing, anyone who enters a public space should recognize there is a risk of contracting the coronavirus.
Improved cleaning will occur at our churches, but no one should expect that they will be any safer from germs than in other public spaces. Finally, we should recognize that this is a unique time and we need to continue to work together to make progress.
There will be challenges and frustration. You may not be able to attend Mass at your parish the first few weeks it resumes. However, we believe these guidelines are a call to love our neighbors. If we all work together, we can incrementally expand our options and increase our participation in the liturgy.
However, if we look for ways to get around the regulations, we will likely contribute to the sickness and death of others, creating situations that force us to take steps back.
Each of us is called to be faithful members of the Body of Christ as we implement the reopening of our churches. Thank you for all you have done and continue to do in our parish communities. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart.
I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You.
